Oct 29, · Ah I love this! I know this post is from years ago, but it’s so interesting to read stories of people traveling in Latin America by car. I just drove my car down to Southern Mexico and have always wanted to do the whole Pan American highway or at least all of Central America. Updated with new photos and more information, this book provides all the information necessary for safe travel by car or recreation vehicle within Mexico and Central America. With the best routes to take, what to expect when crossing the border, helpful Spanish phrases, tips on where to stay, and much more, this book is perfect for an adventurous auto trip.
Getting around Panama is relatively easy compared with other Latin American countries, and major roads are well maintained and delightfully free of potholes, making it a good place to rent a car to get from destination to destination. In Panama City, taxis, including Uber, are the best way to get. No there is no longer any toll along the InterAmericana. The only toll roads in Panama right now are the two "Corridors".
